What does a silence remover do?

A silence remover finds the pauses between the things you say and cuts them out. This one listens for speech rather than volume, so background music or room noise under your voice doesn't hide the gaps, and the quiet end of each word is kept instead of being clipped. The parts with speech are joined back together, so the recording keeps every word and loses the dead air.

Doing that by hand means scrubbing through a waveform and making dozens of cuts in an editor. Here you upload the file, pick how tight the pacing should be and download the result. Video is cut at exactly the same points as the sound, so lips stay in sync.

It works on audio and video up to 10 minutes long, which covers Shorts, Reels, TikToks, voiceovers and most clips you would pull from a longer podcast or stream.

Who it's for

  • Short-form creators

Tighten talking-head clips so every second of a Short, Reel or TikTok keeps people watching.

  • Voiceover artists

Clean up breaths and hesitations between takes before you send the file or drop it into an edit.

  • Podcasters

Trim the awkward gaps out of clips you cut from an episode for social media.

  • Teachers and course makers

Make screen recordings and lessons shorter without re-recording them.

What the tool does for you

  • Audio and video

Voiceovers, podcast clips and talking-head videos all work. Video is cut at the same points as the sound, so the speaker stays in sync.

  • Presets for pacing

Three presets cover most recordings, from a natural pace to jump-cut Shorts. There's no volume level to set: pauses are found by listening for speech.

  • Full control when you want it

Set the shortest pause to cut, the padding kept around speech, the crossfade at each cut and the audio quality, or switch to loudness detection with your own threshold.

  • Works with background music

Pauses are found by listening for speech, so music or room noise under the voice doesn't hide them, and a short crossfade at every cut avoids clicks.

  • Before and after numbers

See the original and new length, how many seconds were saved and how many pauses were cut.

  • Nothing to install

The cutting happens on our servers. You only need a browser, on a computer or a phone.

Frequently asked questions

Will it cut the ends of words?

No. Pauses are found by listening for speech, and anything that still sounds like part of a word, such as a soft "s" or a fading vowel, is kept. If the result feels too tight, pick Balanced or Natural, or raise the padding around speech in Advanced settings.

Does it work on video?

Yes. Upload an MP4, MOV or WebM and you get back an MP4 where the picture is cut at the same moments as the sound, so the speaker stays in sync. Audio files come back as MP3.

Is it free?

Your first file is free once you sign up, for anything up to 2 minutes long. Free videos carry a small ShortsCrafter watermark. After that, audio costs 1 credit per started minute (at least 2) and video 5 credits per started minute. Any purchase removes the watermark.

What do I download?

Audio comes back as an MP3 at the quality you pick, up to 320 kbps. Video comes back as an MP4 at its original resolution, or scaled to 1080p if it was larger.

Which settings should I start with?

Balanced works for most voiceovers and talking-head clips, with or without background music. Choose Tight for fast Shorts and Natural for interviews or anything that should feel unhurried.
